Future Technology PD

Several of you asked for a continuation of the Class (New Digital Technologies and Web 2.0 tools).

I found this online survey that plugs into the blog zoho and has several other features. Please take the poll and comment.

Are you interested in a follow-up class?

Part II of the class would be in a hybrid format. We can outline the details with Karen over the summer.
The class would be ten hours a month beginning September/October for four months.
- five hours month face to face (possibly Wednesday's 3:30-8:30 pm)
- five hours online using the class blog to implement and report back on Web 2.0 tools in the classroom.
- Other options could include multimedia, moviemaker, teaching online (using school center and/or blog). Please comment with your suggestions.

I also added a feature to the website so when you go over a url it shows you a snapshot of the website.

Participate in the free K12 Online Conference K-12 Online Conference that could be incoprated into our class.
The 2007 conference is scheduled to be held over two weeks, October 15-19 and October 22-26 of 2007, and will include a preconference keynote during the week of October 8. The conference theme is “Playing with Boundaries.”

This class has inspired be to try new things our class blog!

Your class was fantastic! You helped our professional community in so many ways.

I have a new proposal for how to spend some of the money that has been put aside for technology.
I would like to see at least ½ of the money ($30,000.00 spent on three or four categories of software, hardware,.. that at least ten teachers would use. These items would be purchase with financial assistance of our district. (say 80% of the cost)
For example:
A. at least ten teachers would want to purchase a lap top – one like you had or a traditional laptop – teacher choice.
B. Some form of video devise for their computer at school where they could record video, take photos,…
C. Some ……
I am uncertain what the categories would be.
One concern might be that items purchased would be for personal use and not for school use. ONE thought – teachers would be required to have these items at school each day.
What are your thoughts?

Mary,
Uncertain about attending a class in the Fall.

I like the idea of a hybrid class, and would attend Web 2.0 phase II. I'm not likely to use Skype with my classes, so I wouldn't mind not having that be part of the course. It will be nice to take the class and have the opportunity use some of the ideas in class as well as find out about how things have gone in other people's classrooms. The class schedule sounds fine.
I'd also be interested in a Moviemaker class to get to know how to do some of the more sophisticated things with it.
