  1. I see Twitter's usefulness and would have loved it as a student. At this point I can't see a use for it in my third grade classroom since we only have 2 computers and the kids are just beginning to learn about computers. However, if a student were absent for an extended amount of time or moved it could be a neat way of keeping in touch (like skype). I could also model Twitter with another class just to show them what is out there.

  2. Twitter would most certainly only be usable when the students have reached the age of majority so you don't have any issues with inappropriate content out there in the general Twitter environment. I certainly like the idea of participating remotely as was mentioned with a number of the tools we have been investigating. For myself as a teacher, I'm not certain I'd be able to keep up with the comments adequately to make it really workable for me...
Then again if a good question/comment were posted and I missed it the more talkative ones would likely VOICE it for me. =-)

  3. Think about using Twitter with your colleagues and for sharing ideas and PD topics...

  4. I certainly can see the value of twitter in the classroom. You can draw out those students who are reluctant to speak in public and give each student a chance to contribute. I could use it in the library when showing new research tools. students could comment on how they can be applied to their individual needs. Very cool!! I could talk on & on...

  5. Absolutely! I'm doing some PD this year on a new research methodology. I would LOVE to have a twitter going with the teachers about this new approach while presenting.

  6. I can definitely see the use of twitter in the classroom, but even more with colleagues. I liked the idea of using it on professional development days and during breakout sessions. I can also see it's usefulness on a daily basis-- I'm always finding stuff that I think is helpful/useful for teachers, and it would be easier to post it once than to send out multiple emails.

  7. I think twitter is a great asset in the classroom. I do agree limiting the characters to 140 is great...some people like to chat and others get to the point. During a class you do not want to spend time reading and reading useless information.

  8. I would have loved Twitter as a college student! I remember sitting in lecture halls with 100+ other students. I was too intimidated to ask questions or make comments in front of such a large group. I could see using Twitter during professionial development courses and faculty meetings.

  9. Not sure how I would use twitter in the second grade. I think I would have to see someone use it. But I can see how people can use it and how effective it could be especially in the work world and maybe college students.
